Amsterdam the edit – Coffee break with Simon and Severin

Festival

It feels good to learn new things!

The trip couldn’t end without asking our riders their feelings about the new city. We sat down with Severin Van der Meer and Simon Stricker for a quick chat before leaving for the airport.

Interview with Simi and Sevi

Rolling in a new city, at times, could be difficult for some riders: How do you feel in a whole new playground?
Simon – It was actually a fun place to ride. Amsterdam’s for sure pretty hard to skate, with rough spots and bikes all over the places, but you can find so many things to hit just by looking around you!

Flat cities, in particular Amsterdam, allow you to ride different boards during the same day. From water to cement, how did you feel this transition?
Severin – I really enjoyed the city even if it was my first time there. You don’t often get the chance to cruise around a big city in the morning and then move to a cable park just around the corner for a wake session.

Switching sports is always both pleasure and fun to watch. What did you learn trying a different one?
Simon – It’s always good when you can learn new boardsports. Personally, it was my first time on a wakeboard, and at the beginning it wasn’t as easy as it looked. But once I figured out how to slide on the water I really had fun!

The edit

Take one city and shred it in two different ways: The Amsterdam experience shows how riders can live and ride in a new city like no one else can.

Skateboarding and wakeboarding, two sports usually separated by streets and water but thrown together this time. What happens when you mix these two board sports together and have the riders switch sports?

This is the story of street skateboarding and cable boarding, in the same city but on different playgrounds. How will the riders adapt themselves to the new conditions in a foreign country?

Four days in a new city, two days on the wheels and one day on the wake — that’s what went down in three days of filming with the whole crew. Sit down and enjoy!

The good memories from the trip still make us laugh. We’ve been watching the video again and again. We hope Amsterdam looks a bit different to you now! Enjoy the last days of summer, winter’s knocking at the door!
Cheers Nicki & Ale
